Jules samples this cut-out cookie mix at shows to let people taste the difference a premium gluten free flour makes.
Sugar cookies don’t lie very well. They’re delicate, by definition. So if you buy a gluten free cut-out cookie mix that uses bean flours or an ancient grain with a very specific taste, you’re going to have to mask those unwanted tastes with gobs of butter, and even more sugar than normal.
Buy a brown rice flour based mix like some of the cheaper brands? You’ll have a brittle cut-out cookie. That’s not how Jules’ cut-out cookies crumbles–-because they simply don’t crumble! Jules uses a deftly blended, proprietary combination of five flours that lets the subtler side of a cut-out cookie shine right through. gfJules Gluten Free Cut-Out Cookie Mix will simply and instantly take you back. To the cut-out cookies you crave (and that you’ve probably written off since going gluten free).

1 egg or egg replacer (e.g. Ener-G® OR 1/4 cup applesauce)
¼ cup+ milk (dairy or non-dairy)
Food coloring (optional)
Instructions:Whip shortening and ½ of mix together until fluffy. Add egg/substitute, milk & food coloring, mixing until smooth, then slowly stir in rest of mix. If dough is too dry, mix in 1-2 Tbsp milk.
For best results, cover dough and refrigerate until cold to reduce stickiness. If using coconut oil, bring dough back to room temperatures before rolling out.
Heat oven to 375°F (350° convection), line baking sheets with parchment.
Cut-Out Cookies: Sprinkle baking mat or clean counter with gfJules® Gluten Free All Purpose Flour so dough won’t stick. Roll dough to 1/8” thickness & cut out shapes, re-roll extra dough. Transfer cookies to lined baking sheets & decorate if desired. Bake 5-8 minutes or longer for crispier cookies (bake time differs with cookie size and thickness, so monitor closely). Cool on wire racks.
Sugar Cookies: Form teaspoon-sized scoops of dough into balls, roll in sugar, flatten lightly & place onto lined baking sheets. Bake 10 minutes, cool on wire racks.
